Match Preview | Play-Off Semi-Final

Halesowen travel to Lincolnshire for a play-off semi-final against Spalding United

Head to Head

The Yeltz have lost four of the nine contests against Spalding this century, and beforehand had not lost in any of the four games from 1980-1990. Many will remember this fixture for their play-off final at The Grove where the Yeltz beat Spalding in extra time after levelling the contest very late on in normal time in front of 3,250 fans.

The most recent game between the two sides was a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Sir Halley Stewart Field in March. The Yeltz opened the scoring on 37 minutes. A Jim Kellermann corner went towards Jason Cowley, who was brought down in the box. The Yeltz number 9 stepped up, and sent Dan Wilks the opposite way by sticking the ball into the bottom left. Yusifu Ceesay was sent off for a second yellow offence on Dan Platt in the second half, before we doubled the lead on 65 minutes. Todd Parker slipped a ball though to Ben Cassidy, who slotted home into the bottom left. Just 20 minutes remained in Lincolnshire, but enough time for the hosts to find three late goals through Abduramane Sani and a double from Jack Roberts.
