Wynter’s here! Ryan Wynter returns to the Yeltz

The club are delighted to announce our third summer signing ahead of the 2026/27 season, as Ryan Wynter returns to the club after a year away, following his departure from National League North side Hednesford Town

The 32 year old started out as a junior for Stoke City, and got his first taste of football as a striker with Stafford Rangers in the summer of 2014 at the age of 20. He instantly became a key man, but unfortunately they finished just outside the play-offs at step 4.

Wynts left Stafford after a year, and spent time at Mickleover Sports & Chasetown, before swiftly re-joining Rangers in February 2016. This time around at Marston Road, he helped them win the Northern Premier League Division One South title, and earn promotion to step 3.

In the summer of 2016, he stepped back down to step 4, and back to Chasetown where he had spent six months the previous campaign. After a year at the Scholars, he joined Hednesford for the first time, before going back to Chasetown a few months later.

He spent the next six years at the club from Cannock, and changed into his position of a central defender where he made just over 125 league appearances all at step 4. He was part of the Chasetown team who beat the Yeltz in the 2021/22 play-off semi-final at The Grove, before losing the final to Belper Town.

In the summer of 2023, Wynter joined the Yeltz. He made 85 appearances for the club over the next two seasons, all but one of which in the starting XI. He captained the Yeltz 40 times, scored seven goals, kept 26 clean sheets, and won seven player of the match awards, before departing for a return to Hednesford last summer.

Wynts made 27 league appearances on course to the Pitmen’s promotion to step 2, and returns to the Yeltz for another step 3 project and an opportunity to play at a place he called home for two years.

Everyone at the club would like to welcome Wynts back to the club 🤝
