Halesowen Town FC are delighted to announce the arrival of Tyrone Barnett from neighbours Stourbridge FC, who joins to strengthen Russ Penn’s forward line.

The striker who celebrated his 40th birthday yesterday, started his career back in 2003 playing for West Brom’s Academy side. The forward proceeded to spend the rest of the naughties playing for Rushall Olympic, AFC Telford United, Willenhall Town, and Hednesford.

The striker played for some illustrious clubs from 2010 until 2019 listing Maccclesfield, Crawley Town, Peterborough United, Ipswich Town, Bristol City, Oxford United, Shrewsbury Town, Southend United, AFC Wimbledon, Port Vale, and Cheltenham Town, amongst his clubs. He racked up over 300 appearances in the Football League during that nine year period, and most notably featured in the Championship with two of those clubs, Ipswich Town and Peterborough United.

After nine straight seasons of football in the Football League, Barnett returned to the non-league scene with Eastleigh in the summer of 2019, where he scored 30 goals in 106 National League matches across three campaigns. After three years in Hampshire, the 6 foot 3 striker joined Hereford, where he made 39 National League North appearances, scoring nine goals.

Barnett returned to the third tier of non-league after over 12 years to join Leamington, where he scored eight league goals in the Brakes’ promotion from the Southern Premier Central. Barnett signed for Alvechurch in the summer of 24 and scored twice in 19 league appearances, before moving to Stourbridge and scoring eight goals in 18 league games. The forward has featured 12 times in the league for the Glassboys this season (eight starts), and scored twice.

Tyrone brings a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch. He is also a true professional in how he conducts and looks after himself. I hope everyone here at Halesowen welcomes him to the club.
