Help us get The Grove ready for the new season!
A new season is getting closer, our new facilities are nearing completion and there is plenty to do to get The Grove ready. Can you help?
We’re holding two volunteer working sessions this week and we need your help.
Thursday 9 July | 6pm–9pm
Saturday 11 July | 9am–1pm
There are jobs of all shapes and sizes to tackle around the ground. You don’t need any particular skills or experience to help, and you don’t need to stay for the full session. If you can give us an hour, a couple of hours or the whole session, we’ll be glad to have you.
If you’ve thought about getting more involved at the club but never really known where to start, this is a good opportunity to come down, meet some of the people involved and get stuck in.
What needs doing?
We have a long list of jobs across the ground, with something for pretty much everyone.
We’ll be:
- Clearing weeds and rubbish from around the ground
- Sweeping and cleaning stands and terraces
- Cleaning seats and checking for damage
- Jet washing paths, floors and the outside of buildings
- Cleaning windows, doors and facilities
- Painting doors, gates and barriers
- Repainting hazard lines around the ground
- Tidying and organising storage areas
- Carrying out small repairs and general maintenance
There will be people on hand to help organise the work and point volunteers towards the jobs that need doing.
Whether you’re handy with a drill, good with a paint brush or just willing to grab a broom, there will be something useful you can do.
What should I bring?
The most important thing is yourself. We’ll have equipment available, but if you have any of the following and are happy to bring it along, it would be a big help:
- Work or gardening gloves
- Outdoor brooms and stiff brushes
- Dustpans and brushes
- Garden tools for weeding and clearing
- Wheelbarrows
- Hedge cutters and shears
- Buckets, sponges and cleaning cloths
- Window-cleaning equipment
- Paint brushes and rollers
- Cordless drills and basic hand tools
- Pressure washers and outdoor hoses
Please mark any equipment you bring with your name so we can make sure everything finds its way back to the right person at the end of the session.

The Grove is home to all of us, and there is a lot happening as we prepare for the season ahead.
If you’re able to help, just come down during either of the sessions:

There’s no need to commit to the full session. Come for as long as you can and we’ll find you something useful to do.
