Who Is Andy?

ANDYSMANCLUB is more than just a name—it's a powerful movement that started from tragedy but strives to prevent further heartache. It is named in memory of Andrew Roberts, who tragically took his own life at the age of 23 in 2016. His family, devastated by his loss, discovered the heartbreaking reality that male suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 54 in the UK. The stigma surrounding men's mental health led Andy's family to create a space where men could talk openly about their struggles without fear of judgment.

Founded by Elaine Roberts (Andy’s mother) and Luke Ambler (Andy’s brother-in-law), ANDYSMANCLUB provides men aged 18 and above with a safe, non-clinical space to discuss their mental health issues. The groups operate nationwide, offering support for men in need, where all facilitators have personal experience with the club, having been service users themselves.

The Origin Story: Just Like Superheroes
In mid-2016, a group of nine men met in a small room in Halifax, Yorkshire, with a simple goal: to share their mental health struggles and support one another. What began as a humble gathering quickly grew into something much more. The men realized that there was a unique magic in those conversations—something that had the potential to save lives.

What started as a single meeting grew into a nationwide movement. Today, ANDYSMANCLUB operates hundreds of groups across the UK and online, helping thousands of men to break the silence surrounding mental health.

Mission Statement

At the heart of ANDYSMANCLUB lies a simple but powerful mission: to prevent the heartbreak of suicide by encouraging men to speak openly about their mental health struggles. Through weekly Monday night talking groups, the club provides a vital service where men can share their stories, experiences, and challenges in a supportive, non-judgmental space.

The goal is clear—to save lives by breaking the stigma and creating a culture where men feel empowered to ask for help when they need it most.

A Volunteer-Led Movement

ANDYSMANCLUB’s success is built on the dedication of its volunteers. The groups are entirely volunteer-led, with facilitators who have personal experience with mental health struggles, creating an authentic, empathetic environment. The fact that facilitators have been through the journey themselves is part of what makes the club so special—a true community of men supporting men.

#ThatOneMan

#ThatOneMan is more than just a hashtag; it’s a promise that ANDYSMANCLUB makes to every man who walks through its doors. It represents the commitment to be there for that one person in need, no matter how many people the organization reaches or how much it grows. Whether it’s through the growth of new clubs, winning awards, or establishing new partnerships, #ThatOneMan remains at the core of what we do: ensuring that every man who needs help can find it, and that his tomorrow can always be better than his today.

Join the Movement

ANDYSMANCLUB is not just an organization; it's a movement that continues to grow and make an impact every single day. If you're a man who needs help, or if you want to support the cause, there is always a place for you in the club.

Together, we can break the silence and save lives—one conversation at a time.
