Match Report | Redditch FA Cup

Halesowen exit the FA Cup at the first qualifying round, following a 3-2 loss away to Redditch United.

Kieren Donnelly's goal just before half-time was cancelled out by two quick-fire second half goals from Jaiden White, before Johnny Johnston sealed the tie. A late consolation goal from Donnelly wasn't enough to bring the game back to The Grove for a replay.

Both sides met at the start of August, and following trouble with electricity the points were shared in the Southern League Central.

This game however was close, and Redditch took the first opportunity of the game. Jaiden White picked up the ball on the edge of the area after six minutes, and made an attempt at goal but his strike fell wide of the post.

It took a further 15 minutes for the next bit of action to arrive. Again falling for the home side, with Cranston delivering a close corner into the side netting.

Halesowen's first chance fell on 22 minutes, McKauley Manning did an excellent job of turning his defenders to get a low driven shot towards goal.

Two minutes before half time and the Yeltz had the lead. A miss-communication at the back between Callum Flanagan and Dale Eve allowed Kieren Donnelly to pounce onto a loose ball and head it into an empty net from short range.

It didn't take long for the hosts to equalise on 48 minutes. Jaiden White received a great through-ball and took it round Platt to convert the chance.

Two minutes later however, the Yeltz could have regained the lead. Fin Holmes made a great run along the left wing, and after a short pass to Tee a chipped ball met the head of Donnelly but missed the target.

Redditch then took the lead only a couple of minutes later and Jaiden White was at the double. Another breakaway meant White was one-on-one with Platt, and the Redditch man found the net.

Despite some clever substitutions from Russ Penn, the game was all but sealed with just over 20 minutes to go. A Cranston corner met the head of Johnston at the far post to make it 3-1.

It got worse for Halesowen when substitute Adi Yussuf was shown a straight red for a foul in the centre circle.

Despite Kieren Donnelly's 96th minute goal, the Yeltz bowed out of the FA Cup.
